Utsumi was a regular contributor to a number of Kyoto Animation projects – including Clannad, K-On!, and Tamako Market – before getting the chance to helm a series on her own. Since leaving Animation Do, Utsumi has been freelance, mostly working on Bones and MAPPA projects.
